-- Playboy TV purchases 34 licenses of Sapphire Plug-ins --
Cambridge, MA. September 7, 2004 - GenArts, Inc., a leading provider of digital visual effects plug-ins for the film, broadcast and video industry, today announced that Playboy TV has purchased 34 licenses of Sapphire-Plug-ins for Final Cut Pro HD.With over 1,500 hours of original programming creation each year, Playboy Entertainment Group is a busy division of the world famous men's lifestyle and entertainment conglomerate. The programs created by this division are broadcast on Playboy TV networks worldwide, and are the basis for DVDs that are sold in over 200 countries.
When Playboy upgraded its post-production facilities earlier this year to Final Cut Pro HD, Director of Production Operations Darren Turbow and his team decided to make Sapphire Plug-ins an integral part of the station's new digital studio. The editing team chose Sapphire for its ease of use and many productivity-enhancing attributes, in addition to the software's great market reputation.
"We've already saved time and money using Sapphire Plug-ins, because it offers tools that are very deep, yet also fast and very easy to operate. They're the only plug-ins we use," comments Turbow.
From the on-air promotions department, which is responsible for all short form programming for the entire Playboy network, to Spice HDTV, the first ever adult HD channel, Sapphire Plug-ins are now being used on a daily basis by all 34 editors and producers.
"Because we use Sapphire Plug-ins on such a wide variety of projects, we probably get to use most of the effects at one stage or another," comments Turbow. "The built-in help, which explains every effect, what it does, and how to use it, is exceptional, and so is the technical support."
Sapphire Plug-ins for Final Cut Pro features a collection of over 175 state-of-the-art image processing and synthesis effects. They fully and seamlessly integrate into the FCP interface and include effects ranging from everyday tools such as Glows, EdgeRays, LensFlare, Glint, Blurs and RackDefocus, to more exotic effects like Lightning, FlysEye, JpegDamage, HalfTone and Textures.
